OIC Offers New Program in Youth Services

Have you ever been interested in working with children and/or adolescents? If so, this year OIC is offering a new Youth Services Worker training program. The Youth Services Worker program is a 600 Clock Hour adult training program designed to prepare students to work in entry-level positions as direct-service workers with youth who have been placed in residential treatment centers, youth shelters, detention facilities, group care homes, specialized community homes, and juvenile rehabilitation centers. These direct-service workers aid social workers and other human services workers in providing children and adolescents with a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment.

The West Virginia Child Placement Network (WVCPN) currently lists seventy-one facilities in West Virginia dedicated to providing services to West Virginia youth. These facilities include everything from emergency crisis shelters to Level IV residential facilities. Everyday these facilities receive children who have either been removed from their homes by protective services/DHHR or are being placed there through the juvenile justice system. In the Youth Services Worker training program, you will work to develop the skills necessary to be an effective part of this “in-demand” career field. Call today to find out more about this exciting program.
